Sean Richardson
For more than a decade, Sean R. Richardson has been a significant advisor to the Democratic Leadership in both the House of Representatives and Senate. Mr. Richardson brings the clients of Johnson, Madigan, Peck, Boland & Stewart a broad range of hands-on experience in navigating the political process, managing crises and implementing successful legislative strategies. In February 2008, Mr. Richardson was named one of the top “50 Politicos to Watch” by the newspaper Politico.

Prior to joining Johnson, Madigan, Peck, Boland & Stewart, Mr. Richardson served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy (D-RI) and Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN). In these positions, Mr. Richardson was the primary advisor on all legislative and political issues, and managed communications and media affairs for the Members. Mr. Richardson also served as a Policy Assistant for the then-Democratic Leader, Richard A. Gephardt (D-MO).

In addition to his legislative experience, Mr. Richardson successfully designed and implemented media and message strategies for Democratic Leadership and Members of Congress. As Chief of Staff to the Senate Democratic Communications Committee, one of Senator Tom Daschle’s leadership committees, Mr. Richardson developed and executed communications strategies for the Democratic Caucus. Mr. Richardson worked with individual Senators to maximize communications opportunities through the use of television, print, radio and the Internet. At the 2000 Democratic National Convention, Mr. Richardson coordinated all media activities for the Senators and candidates. Mr. Richardson also served as an Associate Producer for the Political Unit of CBS News.

A veteran of numerous political campaigns, Mr. Richardson has experience with budgeting, messaging, media, speechwriting, outreach, polling and debate preparation at the highest level of electoral politics. In 2006, Mr. Richardson led Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy’s re-election effort in which he garnered nearly 70% of the vote – the highest percentage of his career.
