Tanya Lombard
Prior to joining Johnson, Madigan, Peck, Ms. Lombard served as the Director of Government Affairs for Altria Corporate Services, Inc. in Washington, D.C. Her responsibilities included lobbying Members of the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate on a multitude of issues pertinent to the company, and enhancing relationships with constituent groups and civic organizations throughout the country.

Ms. Lombard served in several roles in the Clinton administration, including Special Assistant to the President and Director of Political Affairs for the Southern Region. In that role, Ms. Lombard advised President Clinton, Vice President Gore, First Lady Hillary Clinton and Tipper Gore on the national political climate, with particular emphasis on the southern region of the United States. Among other things, she prepared briefs focusing on the daily political activities in her target region and how these activities impacted the Clinton administration’s major policies, initiatives and constituency groups throughout the country. Additionally, Ms. Lombard coordinated political events and served as the staff political liaison when traveling with the President and Vice President. She interfaced daily with members of Congress, Governors, state and local elected officials and a host of other constituencies. Prior to becoming the Southern Political Director, Ms. Lombard served as the Deputy Associate Director of the White House Office of Presidential Personnel. While serving in this capacity, she provided recommendations to the President on key senior executive appointments.

In 1997, Ms. Lombard served as the interim Chief of Staff for the Louisiana Public Service Commission. In addition to managing a staff of 13 in the commission’s New Orleans and Baton Rouge offices, she met with constituents (generally from the fields of telecommunications, energy and utilities) in order to determine the issues the commission needed to address.

A seven-year veteran of Capitol Hill, Ms. Lombard began her political career by serving as the Congressional Assistant for Congresswoman Lindy Boggs. She also worked as the Director of Public Affairs for Congressman William J. Jefferson of New Orleans. While serving in this position, she assisted the Congressional Black Caucus (“CBC”), by conducting extensive research, co-authoring and editing several CBC publications. In 1994, she coordinated the first CBC Youth Congress Town Hall Meeting: “Generation X – Black Voices of Reason, Rage and Responsibility” which highlighted leaders of the current phase of the civil rights movement.

Ms. Lombard, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Xavier University in 1990, and is a former elected official in Louisiana, serving on the Democratic State Central Committee and Orleans Parish Democratic Executive Committee.
