Michael Boland has more than 25 years experience leading
successful efforts in public policy on behalf of the financial services,
energy, telecommunications and technology industries. He has:
- Helped to lower the federal tax rates on capital gains and dividends.
- Successfully guided various bankers and brokers through difficult and
complex regulatory proceedings.
- Supported efforts to expand international trade.
- Led numerous campaigns to reduce excessive regulation and to increase
investments in the telecommunications, energy, defense and technology
sectors.

Worked as a strategist for senior corporate management for over 50 companies,
including Verizon, Lockheed Martin, Chevron, The Bank of New York, Time
Warner, Charles Schwab, Cisco Systems, and KPMG.
Mr. Boland comes to Johnson, Madigan, Peck, Boland &
Stewart from Verizon, the largest telecommunications company in the United
States, where he served as Senior Vice President. In this capacity, Mr.
Boland managed the federal Congressional relations staff and was responsible
for all policy issues affecting the company, beginning with telecommunications,
but also labor, health care, pension, international trade, patent and tax
matters.
Prior to joining Verizon, Mr. Boland was CEO of Boland & Madigan,
one of Washington’s leading consulting firms. Mr. Boland began his
career on Capitol Hill. During the Reagan Administration, Mr. Boland was
selected as Chief Counsel and Floor Assistant to Trent Lott, then the
Republican Whip in the United States House of Representatives. From 1984
through 1987, Mr. Boland represented the Whip at meetings with House and
Senate leaders of both parties, with White House staff and with Cabinet
and Executive Branch officials. Before working for the Leadership in the
House of Representatives, Mr. Boland served as senior counsel to the House
Energy and Commerce Committee during the years 1978 through 1984, where
he managed energy, budget, technology and financial services issues.
